Korea Premium Tech Plaza Connects DFW Businesses with the Latest in Consumer Electronics

October 28, 2009 --

DALLAS, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Dallas Regional Chamber is proud to co-sponsor the Annual Korea Premium Tech Plaza (KPTP) with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency of Dallas (KOTRA) to connect consumer electronics and IT companies from South Korea with North Texas partners. The event, held November 4( )and 5 from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Dallas, includes luncheon and breakfast forums, a trade show, one-on-one meetings and networking opportunities. This event is complimentary and open to the public; however registration is required at www.dallaschamber.org/global.

KPTP 2009 is an interactive showcase demonstrating the latest innovative consumer electronics and technologies from 50 Korean companies. A variety of activities will provide participants the opportunity to network with South Korean executives to form strategic business linkages.

This complimentary, two-day event will include luncheon and breakfast programs featuring expert speakers from Samsung Telecommunications, The University of Texas at Dallas and Hillwood, sharing their industry knowledge and discussing the transformation of the IT landscape with emerging technologies that are fast shaping globalization and business strategies.

"As a strategic partner, Korea offers a multitude of advantages including a strong manufacturing base, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a strategic location as a gateway to emerging markets in East Asia," said Hwan Eik Cho, President and CEO of KOTRA. South Korea is currently DFW's second largest trading partner. In 2008, trade between DFW and Korea totaled $5 billion U.S. dollars. Among the top items traded were consumer electronics.

As part of its mission to facilitate trade between international countries and DFW, the Dallas Regional Chamber's International Business Council (IBC) is committed to strengthening the region's relationships with Korean businesses. The IBC hosts trade missions to and incoming delegations from South Korea to foster area businesses' growth internationally and to promote the Dallas region as a key location for international business development to overseas companies.

KOTRA is the trade-investment promotion agency for the Republic of Korea and has over 100 offices in 70 different countries, with many U.S. locations including a Dallas office operating for over 30 years.

"Throughout my 8 year association with KOTRA, they have been instrumental in generating trade between Korea and North Texas," said Steve Boecking, Vice President, Hillwood Development Corporation and leading advisor for the Chamber's initiatives in South Korea.
